About the Stars on Our Hats

“Mountville Stars” are similar to the famous “Stargell stars” – the ones Willie Stargell (one of baseball’s all-time greatest homerun hitters) distributed to his fellow Pittsburgh Pirates to acknowledge extra effort. The Pirates wore the coveted stars proudly on their ballcaps.

“Mountville Stars” are awarded to players by the coaches based upon the player’s attitude, effort, improvement, and execution of various game fundamentals. They are given to reinforce the techniques learned in practice, build confidence, and promote team pride and unity.
